Winners Awarded for Safer Internet Day 2007 Competition
Teachers and pupils from eight countries were awarded for their excellent projects on internet safety at the Safer Internet Day 2007 prize-giving ceremony in Brussels on 11 June.

Organised by the Insafe network, the Safer Internet Day 2007 project competition launched in autumn 2006 drew in participation from hundreds of schools across Europe, as well as from around the world. Based on three themes – E-Privacy, Netiquette and The Power of Image – partner schools worked together to run a three-month project to reflect upon and discuss these important online safety issues.

In total, four projects were awarded: one for each of the three themes and one for innovation. Sponsored by Vodafone and Liberty Global, the winning prize for each school was 1,500 euros to be used to purchase ICT equipment for their school.

It was great to see that many of the projects entered into the competition were in fact from eTwinning schools. Also, amongst the final winning schools, six out of eight were from eTwinning.

The Safer Internet Day 2007 competition was the second international competition organised by the Insafe network in the context of the annual “Safer Internet Day” event which took place this year on 6 February.

Next year’s competition will be launched soon, so stay tuned for more details!
