eTwinning Pedagogical Advisory Group |
 |
Educational experts from six European countries observe the pedagogical enhancement in eTwinning. |
 |
The Pedagogical Advisory Group (PAG) for eTwinning includes experts from Ministries of Education, educational researchers, trainers and teacher trainers and ICT industry educational experts from Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands and the UK. The chairperson, Pieter Hogenbirk, is a senior member of the Dutch inspectorate.
The PAG meets regularly to identify issues and suggest solutions for the pedagogical enhancement of school collaboration in eTwinning. The experts assist and advise, together with the Central Support Service, the National Support Services (NSS) in identifying and fulfilling the professional development of teachers involved in eTwinning.
At their last meeting in September 2005, the PAG discussed issues related to the quality of teacher training and the professional development of teachers involved in eTwinning. Recommendations were that schools should be encouraged to attain certain quality standards to get the quality label for eTwinning and that specific audiences should be addressed to create relationships across borders within a particular field.
The experts also discussed the issue of how best to prepare teachers for the collaborative aspects of school partnerships. One way was to set up sessions or workshops where teachers should work collaboratively and focus on methodologies for this.
The next meeting of the group will take place during the eTwinning Conference to be held in January 2006 in Linz, Austria.
