eTwinning Prizes 2007: The Finalists Are…
The finalists have now been chosen for this year’s round of European prizes!

From 350 high-quality submissions for the eTwinning Prizes 2007, it was certainly very difficult to choose this year’s overall prize finalists. For this reason, we would again like to thank all those who submitted their entries and congratulate them on their fine project work. The winners and runners-up will be announced during the prize-giving ceremony at the eTwinning Annual Conference on 23 February in Brussels.

The three winning projects will be awarded with a four-day ICT camp for teachers and students at the end of April (venue to be confirmed) while runners-up will be invited to participate in one of the Professional Development Workshops taking place across Europe until June 2007.

Without further ado, the finalists are:

Category 1: Age 4-12

Project Partners

Once Upon a Blog
Students exchange myths and legends from their island nations and learn about each other’s lifestyles and attitudes using Blog and Podcast technologies.

  • Malta: St. Joseph, Mater Boni Consilii School (teacher: Jacqueline Vanhear)
  • Ireland: Saint Attracta’s Senior National School (teacher: Joseph Molloy)

Gingerbread House
Students transform their school life into a fairytale one. Their fairytale worlds are expressed through drawings and then transformed into a digital audio-visual format.

  • Slovakia: Základná škola Omšenie (teacher: Denysa Križanova)
  • Czech Republic: Základní škola a mateřská škola Sivice (teacher: Pavel Vrtěl)

Category 2: Age 13-15

Eurofilm Factory
Students develop together a guide of tips for film making and then put their guidelines into practice by producing their own films and writing their own reviews.

  • Lithuania: Prienai “Ziburys” gymnasium (teacher: Irma Sneideriene)

24 pas - 24 βήματα
Dividing the ancient Greek alphabet in two, each class prepares 24 words for their partner class to translate as a base for discussion about the history of Greek and Latin.

  • France: Collège Michel de L’hospital (teacher : Véronique Drujon)
  • Greece: Eniaio Lykeio Asklipieiou (teacher: Constantin Rasias, Anthi Theodorou)

Category 3: Age 16-19

Wir, die Jugendlichen von heute
Students get to know each another through an online journal and produce articles, poems, short stories and critical essays to compare their lives to those of their partners.

Young people’s search for personal identity
Using numerous ICT tools, adolescent students search for their identity from both a psychological and cultural perspective as they become young adults.

  • Italy: ITIS "A. Monaco" Cosenza (teacher: Paola Lico)
