Living Traditions |
 |
In this project, two partner classes work together and create an online presentation about traditions in their countries. |
 |
Summary of Activities
Teachers set up mixed groups of four to six pupils (one to three pupils from each country) and supervise pupils as they carry out the project tasks:
- Writing a presentation email to each other within the group
- Preparing a common presentation (for instance using PowerPoint or Word) on five traditions per country
- Uploading the presentation on the TwinSpace
- Showing the project outcomes to other people at school and telling them about the project
Week 1
|
Each trial project can benefit from a TwinSpace (for this, we recommend reading the guidelines). Teachers get to know each other by exchanging internal messages, sharing ideas and adapting the project kit to their needs (subject, age group, skills, etc.). They learn to use the tools needed for the project or find a colleague to help. They also explain the project to their class.
In this first week, teachers also “invite” their pupils (in teams) to the TwinSpace so that the pupils have access and can eventually use the safe internal messaging system to discuss about traditions that are special/unique in their (or possibly in their partner’s) country. |
TIP: You can use the messaging system to agree on a date and a time to schedule a chat with your partner. For instance, you can decide to meet online on 20 September at 11.00 (mind the time zone!) and, on that day and time, click on the chat icon on the TwinSpace’s top bar. You can then chat and exchange ideas in real time. | |
Week 2
Within the group, pupils exchange a first message where they introduce themselves. In the second message they suggest traditions from their country they would like to be included in the presentation. Then, they agree on a scenario for the presentation (format: sound, text, video, etc.).
Week 3
Groups work on their presentation by taking pictures, writing texts and searching for relevant information on the Internet. Throughout, they explore the technical possibilities of the chosen presentation software.
Week 4
|
Presentations are finalised and published on the TwinSpace. Pupils in each class present their group work and promote the project outside of class (e.g., notice board, school magazine, debate).
To close the project, pupils write a farewell email to their partners using the TwinSpace messaging system.
If all goes well, teachers can then decide to start a new project with their partner. Read the guidelines to find out how to set up a new project |
TIP: To add your presentations to the TwinSpace, first create a folder for each school. To add a new folder, click on “Settings” on the top bar and follow the instructions. Then, within the ‘folder’, add a ‘file archive’. You can store as many files as you like, provided that each one is no more than 5 MB.
