A Day in the Life of our School |
|
Partners describe a typical day in their school and publish the entry on their common blog. They then discuss similarities and differences in their school life. |
|
Summary of Activities
Teachers create groups of three pupils and define the tasks of each pupil (a reporter, a photographer and a webmaster). The tasks to be carried out are the following:
- Writing a introductory email on the blog (one per group of three)
- Describing a day in their school life (one per group of three)
- Publishing their contribution on the blog together with a picture
- Reading all the submissions and discussing what they found interesting about school life in other countries (there should be a summary of these discussions published on the blog).
- Writing a summary of the project. With a picture and the link to the blog, the information is published as a webpage on the project’s TwinSpace.
- Showing the blog to other people at school and telling them about the project
Week 1
|
Each trial project can benefit from a TwinSpace (we recommend reading the guidelines). Teachers get to know each other by exchanging internal messages, sharing ideas and adapting the project kit to their needs (subject, age group, skills, etc.). They learn to use the tools needed for the project or find a colleague to help. They also explain the project to their class.
For this project, a blog is needed. Teachers can choose among the tools we suggest. Once this is done, partners can agree on one specific day that they will describe. |
TIP: If you are having trouble setting up a weblog, the Central Support Service for eTwinning can set one up for you. For this, simply send an email to Thomas Maier. For access rights, teachers should be ‘administrators’, and pupils ‘members’
Week 2
Pupils work in groups of three. Reporters are mainly responsible for editing entries, photographers for taking pictures and webmasters for publishing everything on the blog. They then write an introductory email about their group and publish it with an accompanying picture on the common blog.
Week 3
|
In the same way, pupils describe one day in their school. The text should be quite detailed and contain interesting details. The entries together with pictures are published on the blog.
Pupils read their partners’ contributions and compare them to their school. Each class drafts an entry about what interested them the most about school life in other countries. This information is then published on the blog. |
TIP: In order for the pupils to exchange and compare their thoughts about school life, have them log on to the project TwinSpace and discuss online in real time using the ‘Chat’ tool. It is private (and safe!) for your project and very easy to use. Simple agree on a time to meet (you can also add this in the TwinSpace ‘Calendar’) and start chatting
Week 4
A summary of the project, together with a picture and the link to the blog is published on the TwinSpace as a webpage. The project outcomes are then displayed and discussed in each school.
To close the project, pupils write a farewell email to their partners using the TwinSpace messaging system.
If all goes well, teachers can then decide to start a new project with their partner. Read the guidelines to find out how to set up a new project.
