Models of collaboration
This is a suggestion to possible approaches to eTwinning. The list is not exhaustive.
You can set up any project that is pedagogically relevant to pupils. There are no requirements to the aims, duration or scope of activities.

Whole school twinning:

  • Linked to town twinning
Two European cities already implement large scale cross communities' exchanges and schools are already informally in contact. This gives the schools an opportunity to enhance the pedagogical element of the town twinning project.

  • Linked to long time exchanges
Two schools have organised trips and exchanged teachers/pupils for many years. This is an opportunity to go further in terms of Information and Communication Technology and pedagogical experiences.

  • Linked to other Socrates actions
Two schools are linked by another action such as Arion, Comenius or Minerva, either still running or coming to an end. eTwinning allows them to strengthen already existing bonds with their partners.

  • New partnership
Due to the influence of a head teacher and/or a group of teachers or because of a change in national or regional policies, a school wishes to set up a global school partnership to develop the European dimension of the whole staff.

All the following examples can be integrated to any whole school partnership.

School management twinning:

  • Peer-to-peer project on school organisational issues.

  • Mutual exchange and dialogue on decision-making issues.

  • Organisation of a whole school twinning project.

Teacher twinning:

  • Curricular option
Teachers of the same subject in different countries bring a European dimension to their pedagogy.

  • Cross-curricular option
Teachers of different subjects tackle a theme where their subjects complement one other.

  • Activity-based
Two teachers set up a common collaborative event, like a concert, a match, an exhibition or a play.

  • Peer-to-peer training
Two teachers exchange experiences about methodology, pedagogy, use of Information and Communication Technology or didactics. This option can be integrated within all the others.

Teacher team twinning:

  • Curricular option
Two or more sets of teachers of the same subject work together on a common theme and compare different approaches linked to cultural and curricular differences.

  • Cross-curricular option
Groups of teachers of different subjects work together on a common theme and discover that the world of education is one.

  • Multi-curricular option
Several class groups (pupils) work on a project and involve teachers from different subjects.

Librarian twinning:

  • Communication for information
Two librarians exchange resources and methodology for better school information services.

Guidance counsellor twinning:

  • European mobility
Two guidance counsellors implement a guide for students looking for work or study possibilities in another country.

School supervisor twinning:

  • Links between communities/parents and schools
Two supervisors explore and compare topics such as violence at school, parent relationship or accessibility issues, and suggest ways to improve school life in the countries.
