The project is aimed at primary school students from European countries learning English aged 6-9 and 10-13. Both age groups will work on tasks appropriate for their age, abilities and interests. Younger students will concentrate on their everyday activities, school life and family life as well as legends. Older students will exchange information concerning themselves, their interests, school, city and country.

Students aged 6-9 will start... read moreGroups of students aged 6-9 and 10-13 will work on different sets of tasks described below. Students aged 6-9 will start the project with creating images of imaginary “Friends” using any of the following techniques: drawing, painting, sewing, embroidery etc. They will describe appearance, character etc in English. Next, they will send the results of their work to the schools of their partners. The children who will receive them will take them home and create a comic consisting of their own drawings and short sentences in their native language and in English. The comic will present the events connected with the time spent with the imaginary “Friend” at home, at school, during the shopping, during a visit at grandparents’, on holiday, at Christmas etc. The comic can also present their home, after-school activities, their flat, the street they live in etc. Apart from a short description below the pictures students can also add vocabulary in English as well as in their native language typical of the scene presented, for example the names of furniture, rooms, animals, places in the city, objects etc. In the second part of the project students aged 6-9 will select two legends connected with the city they live in and prepare a comic on the basis of them, including short sentences in English and in their native language so as to describe what the legends are about. Students aged 10-13 will begin the project by putting their group photo on eTwinning platform together with a short welcome letter for the rest of the partners. They will also prepare a list of questions they would like their partners to answer (the questions can be connected with students’ interests, favourite types of entertainment, everyday life, school, family life etc). On the basis of these questions the administrator of the project will prepare a survey for all the participants. Students will complete the survey and prepare a presentation of the results (in the form of a Word document, Power Point presentation, comic etc.) Next, groups of students should put on the eTwinning site a list of questions concerning their partner’s school. Students will be supposed to present their school to their partners, taking into consideration the questions asked by their foreign peers. The material produced as a result of this task, as well as the following ones, can be in the form of a Power Point presentation, a Word document, scanned drawings with short descriptions etc. Before Christmas students will prepare hand-made Christmas cards in English for their partners and send them by post. Apart from that, they will present how Christmas is celebrated in their country. After that, students will work on tasks connnected with their cities and countries. First, they will prepare a list of questions for their peers about the city and country they live in. A group of students from each school will be supposed to present first their city, and then their country to the foreign students using techniques and means of their own choice (Power Point, Microsoft Word, drawings, comics etc). Their materials can present the most interesting places in their city and country, information connected with the history of their city and country, students’ favourite holiday destinations, the most beautiful monuments etc. To finish the project, students will solve a quiz about Europe prepared by the administrator. They could also prepare their own quiz for partners if they want. Finally, students will write a goodbye letter to the partners, summarizing the activities done during the project and thanking all the participants for cooperation. The materials prepared by both age groups of students will be presented to all the partners of the project on the eTwinning platform via Twinspace.
