Since Christmas time is not far and it is one of the happiest holidays for children in Europe, it would be great for students and teachers around Europe to work on a project about the Christmas season. Through this project, we celebrate Christmas in a fun and creative way! The project is planned to last 7 weeks (November 1st - December 18th). Every two weeks we will work on a different activity and at the end of the project, just before the Christmas holidays, each partner is going to organize a multicultural celebration were students will decorate a Christmas tree, with photographs, cards, wishes and letters from children sent by students from partner countries, they will cook and taste traditional Christmas food and sing traditional Christmas songs!

Create a video or a ppt presentation with customs and traditions in your country during Christmas time! Week 3-4 This week children will exchange traditional Christmas songs and carols, and photographs that they have taken during Christmas in the past. They can also include photographs that remind them of Christmas (e.g snowy places, favourite presents etc) These photographs should be later sent to all partners as they will be used to decorate their Christmas Trees. They can also use Audacity and exchange voice messages with Christmas wishes in English or their own language. Partner countries create videos where students sing traditional Christmas songs in their native language and in English and/or videos where they exchange Christmas wishes with their partners. Week 5-6 During this week children will exchange traditional recipes and they will also write Christmas cards for their partners. At the end of week 6 Christmas cards should be sent to all partner schools, along with children’s photos, christmas-winter photos, handmade Christmas decorations, letters, drawings, or whatever each partner chooses to send to the others for the decoration of their European tree! Week 7 (For older students- optional) This week is dedicated to creative writing. After watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeVaj4zkWy0 (The Snowman, part1-2-3) students should write a story that begins this way: “It was a cold Christmas night when, suddenly, the window of my room opened. A flying snowman asked me to fly with him around the world. Without wasting time I grabbed his hand and we started our magic flight … After finishing your stories, illustrate them and send them to your partners. All the stories can be included in a book and a copy of it can be given to each partner. (For younger students) During this week we are going to prepare our celebration. Children will choose their parnters’ photographs, postcards, cards and wishes that will decorate their Christmas tree. They will choose Christmas songs and carols from their partners and they will start preparing traditional Christmas dishes from the recipes that their partners have sent them. Photos from the preparations should be taken and added to Twinspace. Final Day All partners should have a video or photos of this day and publish them on Twinspace. It will be an open celebration for the teachers and students of each school. It can be the last day before Christmas Holidays. Students and teachers can taste the dishes that the children have prepared, they can listen to traditional songs and they can read the children’s stories. They can also watch the decoration of the European Christmas Tree by the students of the etwinning group!
