My name is Natalia Tzitzi and I teach English in a Primary School in Athens, Greece. My pupils are aged from 6 to 12 and they are interested in working with other young Europeans on projects that would involve Foreign Languages, Drama,ICT, Literature and Art. School year 2011-12 I intend to work on two projects. The 1st project "Profiling a nation through the arts" focuses on the cultural production of the countries involved. The pupils explore their culture in order to present the mentality of their people to their partners. They start with a description of themselves, preparing avatars to introduce themselves to their partners(Personal profiles). They go on with a powerpoint presentation of their country where they include information such landforms, sights, population, currency, etc. (Country profile). The core of the project involves 1. reading literature, choosing a book and translating a characteristic extract from it in English for the partners to read, 2. describing a painting of a famous local artist providing some information on the artist and some input into his art 3. translating in English and singing in their mother tongue a well known typical song and 4. providing information on a local playwright and a piece of his/her work as well as translating and adapting a scene of the play in order to act it and prepare a video of the performance.
