Challenges are given out specific to the Olympics.
Children are involved in research, talking, reading, writing, calculating, making, producing and performing in order to complete their class challenges.
Schools will find out about sports in the partner countries including what is done in lessons, playtimes and in outside sports clubs. As the topic goes on, an underlying thread will be looking at the importance of a healthy lifestyle and what can be done to achieve this.
Completed challenges are presented to parents, the local community and to partner schools via E-Twinning, email, Skype, post and the school websites.
We will ensure all children recognise and use the seven values from the Olympic and Para Olympic Games.

The results of these activities will be shared on a regular (every 1 / 2 weeks) basis by the technologies listed above including Twinspace. We are also going to try and use Skype for video conferencing.
February onwards – Introductions to each of the schools. Some pupils become e-mail penpals and start to communicate.
Roman Road Primary School Specific Activities:
May 18th – Big Dance 2012. Taking part in a nationwide attempt to break a world record with as many people dancing at the same time with the same choreography.
June 16th – Olympic Flame passes through our town.
June 18th – School Olympic Sports Day at Gateshead International Stadium (training ground of the Olympics)
June 19th – Newcastle Eagles Basketball Club delivering sessions to children.
June 25th – 29th – Cooking 4 Life – cooking healthy meals and fitness food with children and their carers
June 25th – Working with Magic Lantern exploring famous artwork depicting sports and the Olympics.
June 21st – Konflux Education delivering a performance and workshop based on Olympic Values and Going for Goals.
June 29th – Whole School Showcase
Opening ceremony and festival for the local community to share.
Taking part in the local authority borough Primary Schools Athletics Festival.
July – Taking part in National Dance week.
