Every nation has numerous legends connected with its history. The mystique behind these legends has always fascinated so many people: they can be intriguing, terrifying or even surreal. We can see them as beautiful love stories or amusing stories for young children. Whatever people find in them, legends are indisputably a part of our culture, history and identity. They are a remainder of past times when life was different and more simple than today. Also, legends inspire language, literature, art and other forms of cultural expression.
Unfortunately, nowadays young generations are mainly focused on technology and "modern" way of life and their interest in history and tradition is decreasing. We want to draw our students' attention to a small part of their home town history, to stories, legends and different times. Also, we would like to motivate our students to write their own stories and create a different and creative world of imagination.
The aim of the project is to make students aware of their home town history through intercultural education. We aim to encourage them to learn more about history of different European countries, comparing similarities and differences in the chosen legends, hence emphasizing cultural diversity and the need for cultural tolerance and inappropriateness of prejudice.
We feel such projects and contents can enrich local tourist offer, draw attention to cultural diversity and the need for cultural tolerance, and motivate students to learn about various cultures and countries after this project.

Students will get a chance to study the impact legends had on people in the past and the way they are treated in the modern world and see many similarities among different European cultures, which will lead to enhancing tolerance towards foreign cultures and preventing prejudice.
It is necessary to increase students’ awareness of other cultures and countries and to teach them how they can appropriate their communication. This will be achieved via research on the topic, discussions, communication with students from partner schools (via e-mail, forums, etc.) and visits to partner countries.
Another major aim will be enriching local tourist offer with products of our work which will not only give our students a view into different ways local community can cooperate, but also have an effect on their self-esteem since they will become an important part of that community. Their work will be used by local institutions after the project, which will represent their visible and long-term mark in the local communities. We will achieve this through our products (brochures, posters, a web site, a book, a glossary, etc.), creative and diverse activities, and publications in local media (radio stations, newspapers, publications, TV network, tourist boards, etc.).
Since the language of our project will be English, we will aim to enhance English language skills and increase students’ and teachers’ confidence needed for efficient communication. We will achieve this through communication with partners and producing work in English.
Also, the project will aim to enhance students’ ICT competence, team work skills, to teach problem solving and manage various tasks and deadlines.
We will address problems that include difficulties in communication and prejudice towards different nations and cultures, and will work on improving tolerance and understanding. Also, the project will focus on problems our home towns may have with bringing young generations closer to their heritage and making them understand what young people can do to keep the history alive.
