We had a conference in Elmshorn from 22-26 November on which we laid the foundation for our planned Comenius project. The aim of this project will be to broaden the horizons of our pupils and teachers for now and in the future, anchor and implement the European way of thinking this way. We want to discover similarities and differences between the different countries and way of thinking. The project will start in September 2011. The pupils will first exchange information on culture, customs, history and eating habits, having worked together in workshops on the various subtopics. This way they will become aware of their own culture and will then be enabled to realize the culture of the participating countries more clearly. Prejudices and fear of contact will be reduced. In the second year the pupils will focus on the year 2025. What will their life and the lives of their peers in other countries be like then? Again, they will be working together in groups and exchanging their outcomes by mail or on the eTwinning platform. One of the aims of this project will also be to teach the pupils to use new media and ICT skills. During the meetings there will be an exchange of pupils. The teachers will discuss and organize the Comenius project; the pupils will present what they have prepared at home and work on subjects together with the pupils of the other countries. After the visits, the pupils will share their information and experiences with the pupils and teachers of their own schools by mounting exhibitions of the material gathered during their visits and contacts .These exhibitions will grow during the various phases of the project and will be displayed in the participating schools, thereby informing the public.

Our objectives will also be to motivate them to increase their knowledge of the English language as well as their knowledge and use of ICT; to decrease their anxiety of living and working abroad in their future and of leaving their home towns and families. ocultar

In the first year we are going to work on the project "Getting to know ourselves and our European friends". Pupils and teachers work in groups on the following subjects:1.1 culture, 1.2 customs, 1.3 history of town and area and 1.4 eating habits. In the second year we are going to work on the project "Getting to know ourselves and our European friends". Pupils and teachers work in groups on the following subjects: 2.1 tourism, 2.2 education, 2.3 environmental and employment problems.
There will also be four visits to participating countries with teachers and pupils.
Approach: Use of the English language (the 4 skills), use of ICT and the eTwinning platform. The pupils work in groups, collect information on the topics and make several presentations. Pupils exchange and discuss this information between their partner schools in chat sessions/at the meetings.
For the greater part our approach will be exchanging, showing and discussing the information they have collected by e-mail/CD/DVD/PP/regular mail/ live presentations to each other/the school/the parents/the local media.
By joining the Comenius School partnership the pupils and teachers will get acquainted with people who live in other areas in Europe, with pupils and their families of foreign countries and other types of education. This will show, among others, common interests, values, problems and ideas. They will discover similarities and differences between the school partners. This way we intend to decrease prejudices. They share their outcomes with the people of their regions by using local media and exhibitions.
The pupils will explore the ways of earning money for a living, discover changes in jobs throughout the years in their area, tell each other what they expect for the future/what they find important about all the aspects mentioned before.
The Netherlands will be the head coordinator of the project, res. Spain, Turkey, Poland.
Spain is responsible to set up and coordinate the whole project on eTwinning, with help from Turkey and Germany.
All partners will be responsible and coordinate the whole project on their own local level.
The communication language is English. The communication will be regularly done by eTwinning, e-mails, phone calls etc... The partners will perform activities specified in a detailed timetable which will be identical for all the participating schools, under the supervision of the head coordinator. To reach this, there will be regular contact between the coordinators of all partner schools. The coordinator informs his/her own teaching staff and pupils.
During the planned teachers'/pupils' meetings there will be face to face communication and the meetings will be used to discuss, work out and evaluate in between. Each school selects pupils for the organized meetings. Teachers and pupils prepare the subjects on the meetings before at their own schools. The coordinating school as well as the organising school of a meeting is responsible for the agenda and the activities taking place during the week of the exchange. The other partners can make suggestions and support the organizing school.
