The wheel is one of the most important invention in the history of mankind. All the machines, communication modes and just about every other invention has been possible only because of the wheel. There are a lot of things around us related to circles or parts of a circles. In this project we will use the principles of circle to make our life easier. During the project students will find out the history of wheel, discover the relationship between the circumference and diameter of a circle and history of pi, solve different geometrical problems related to circle and prepare circular patterns. Students will widen their knowledge and Maths abilities by solving different problems, puzzles, improve their skills in using ICT tools and English language. With this project, teachers can exchange their experience in teaching Maths and using ICT in teaching Maths. We are going to use a common wiki website/blog to cooperate as well as geogebra, HotPotatoes and some new tools of technology web.2.0 like glogster, prezi, voki ect.

Wheel since its invention has been used in countless different applications for countless different purposes. The students will try to find out which inventions would not be possible without the invention of the wheel. They will find the answers to some questions e.g.: Who invented a wheel and when? ( they can prepare a time line) How the wheel was used in the past, and how now? Who was a wheeler and what he did? What was a spinning wheel or a dash wheel? What is a color wheel ? They will also find curiosities about wheels. Third step: The story of pi Discovering the relationship between the circumference and diameter of a circle and history of pi. Preparing a presentation/film showing how to calculate the circumference and how approximation of pi was changing. Fourth step: Practical problems on circles Solving different problems on circles – preparing presentation and HotPotatoes tests Fifth step: Circle theorems – preparing presentation and HotPotatoes tests Six step: Circles in art - many buildings have circular windows, particularly old buildings, but many more modern ones also. Using combinations of circular arcs is also very common for windows, wood carving and for decoration in general.
