As teachers of foreign languages, we feel that students do not really know how useful learning languages is, and they consider the rest of the European countries are so far away. They don’t even realise that this is a rich and varied continent where traditions, peoples and cultures melt together, that we all are very different but not as much as they believe. We want to create a new comparative exploration of Europe. The main objective of this project is to provide a general overview of the different countries in the EU and create a lively twinspace in which students can share their ideas with their mates in other regions, to exchange experiences and gain motivation. It aims to rise awareness of the importance of getting to know other cultures and be tolerant and try to understand other people’s ways of life.

• Proceso de trabajo: Teachers joining the project must compromise to: - Celebrate at least one of the European Festivities in the calendar (i.e. The European... más informaciónTeachers joining the project must compromise to: - Celebrate at least one of the European Festivities in the calendar (i.e. The European Day of Languages) - Send a postcard to all the participating schools at least once a month (October-April 7 months) so that each school would have seven different postcards from each country at the end of the project. Teachers can distribute tasks and timetables they way they most suit them. For instance, imagine we are 24 participating schools-countries and you have a group of 12 students: Each student may write 2 postcards at a time or twice a month. Schools can pay the postcards and envelopes or either the students themselves. Students are to write about different topics, which teachers should choose according to their groups and the objectives of this project (i.e. My town, my country, My School, Europe…) - Make a presentation about their schools - Make a presentation about their towns. - Make a presentation about their countries - Describe a local festival in their towns - Participate in the twinspace with the students - Help the teacher administrator to create an education bog with all the activities carried out. - Try to arrange chat sessions (if possible) - Create a giant map of Europe to celebrate Europe Day on 9th May 2011 with all the postcards received. ocultar
