“Schoolovision 2009”- 2009 is the European Year of Creativity and Innovation, so, following a similar format to the Eurovision Song Contest, this year taking place in Moscow on 16th May 2009, Schoolovision will allow one primary school from all eTwinning countries wishing to participate, to record, video and upload a song of their choice, to be viewed by all other participants in the project. In addition, all countries will be asked to evaluate and vote for their favourite songs after they have watched and listened to all the others- and of course, voting for yourself will not be allowed! Under the rules of the project, you and your class will have until Friday 8th May to decide upon your song, practise it, video it, and get it uploaded onto the project blog website, using either the video upload section within www.blogger.com, or by using google video. Once all songs are uploaded, you will need to get your class to listen to all the other countries' entries and decide who will receive your votes. This should be done in the week from Monday 11th May until Friday 15th May. On Friday 15th May, we intend to host a FlashMeeting, live webcam conference, for as many of the 31 partners as possible, so we can cast our votes in the style of the Eurovision Song Contest, and find out which country willwin the contest! If you are unable to participate in this live vote, please email your votes to the project coordinator, Michael Purves, by Thursday 14th May. The winning school will be sent a trophy to keep for 1 year, and all schools taking part will be sent special certificates. These songs will then be viewed by all the participating schools during the run up week to the real Eurovision Song Contest, in May 2009, and all schools will be asked to vote for their top songs, either by email, or preferably by live webcam conference on Friday 15th May, the day before the actual Eurovision Song Contest. By doing this, I hope that all countries will have the chance to learn a bit about Europe, its citizens, cultures and songs. (and have a whole lot of fun too!) Each country will need to plan a song to sing, practice it in school, decide how it will be performed and how they will provide musical accompaniment. Once all this has been done, they will need to follow the competition rules carefully, which will give full instructions on how and when to upload their finished and videod work. All work needs to be on the blog by Friday 8th May, so that each country can then spend the following week viewing and listening to the songs. Pupils in each class then need to vote for their top songs, and agree which countries they are going to vote for. These votes will be collated during our planned live FlashMeeting on Friday 15th May. UPDATE: Any schools who wish to, (and hopefully this will be the vast majority of partners) will be able to participate in a live Online voting session, just like the real Eurovision Song Contest, via webcam and the FlashMeeting platform, on Friday 15th May. This will allow all pupils in these countries to experience the European dimension through direct contact with each other and through discussion at that time and afterwards! ocultar

So, the results I would expect to see are that each class should be really delighted to see their finished pieces of work. However, in addition, of course, all participants will be very keen to see and to listen to the others' entries, so I expect to see a lot of interest in the finished pieces of work from all the schools taking part. There is a competitive edge to the project, as one country will eventually be crowned "Schoolovision 2009" champions! Above all, though, the results I want to see are children having fun engaging with each other and learning a bit about their peers, through listening to their songs and watching them sing. As the partners upload the first stage of videos, i.e. the "test videos", I plan to introduce the aspect of commenting on posts on the blog, which will hopefully allow the children in all 31 countries involved, to start making friends with each other in a simple way over the net. ocultar
