Desktop Tools

The Desktop is your personal protected area containing all the tools you need to participate in eTwinning. Once registered, simply login to your Desktop and use various features to look for new contacts, discuss ideas, set up projects with one or more partners and manage personal, school and project profiles.

Updating your profiles

Profiles: Keep your personal, school and project profiles up-to-date so that other eTwinners can learn about and contact you about similar interests. Within your profile, you can include information about yourself, your project ideas, activity updates, photo galleries, and much, much more.

Looking for partners

Search: Based on your profile and interests you can perform either a simple or advanced search according to various criteria to look for a partner.

Forum: Post messages describing your project ideas and interests or answer messages posted by other eTwinners. You can also search through messages according to various criteria.

Stumble upon people: When visiting other members’ profiles, you can also see their contacts and project partners, and possibly find someone you feel would be a perfect contact for yourself.

Discussing ideas

Mailbox: As an eTwinner, you have your own internal messaging system which allows you to safely exchange messages with other members registered on the Portal. Messages are visible only from the Desktop; a notification of a new message may be sent to your registered email address.

Chat: On the eTwinning Desktop, you can see when your contacts are online and open a chat room to talk about a potential project or discuss ideas about eTwinning in general.

Project ideas: Include as many ideas as you like about potential eTwinning collaborations. In case you see an idea that interests you in someone else’s profile, add a “me too” to send them a notification.

Sharing results

TwinBlog: Give feedback on your project activities by posting on your project TwinBlog, accessible through your Desktop. You can publish for everyone to see, or keep it private between you and your National Support Service.

Resources: Use a database of learning materials shared among eTwinning schools to get ideas or contribute your own. Material have been either created in eTwinning or found useful in general. This will be available as from February 2009.

Getting recognition

eTwinning Labels: Download and print out your eTwinning Label for your registered project. If your project has reached a certain level of quality, you can then apply for an eTwinning Quality Label.
