Including information on shape of tree size and colour of leaves, trunk shape and size colour of bark, are the branches long of short? What distance from the ground does the first branch start? Are there signs of insect, bird or animal life in the tree? Find the height of the tree. (I will send you detail on how to do this if required) Find the circumference of tree Measure the length of the leaf from base to the tip, has the leaf a stem? Measure its length. Date the last leaf fell off the tree in autumn. Date of the first leaf in spring I think that it might also be interesting to also measure the midday temperature each season as well as the time of sunrise and sunset so that we can make a comparison between the different countries. Date Midday temperature Sunrise Sunset Stage 1 Introduction. Students get to know the participants in the project. Picture of the chosen tree maybe a picture of some of the students. Include some general information on your school. Is it in an urban or a rural area? You can present the information using PowerPoint or is document format if you prefer. Once we get the project set up it will be possible to present the information on the Twin Space area on the eTwinning site Stages 2 to 5 Our observations of the tree over the different seasons using the information at the top of the page as a guideline. Make tree diary. Schools can make a multimedia presentation for example using PowerPoint of PhotoStory chronicling the changes in the tree over the seasons. Children make a graph of temperature changes and compare temperature in their country with other participating schools. Students can arrange temperatures in order. Art activities associated with the project. Bark rubbings. Use a crayon or soft pencil to show the texture of the bark. Trace round the leaves and add veins or other marks. Draw the seeds or fruit.
