Our project is called ‘Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds’. Across Europe the health of our young people is a very important priority. Our project will focus on developing our children’s understanding of, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Our project will focus on the promotion of good healthy habits in four key areas: - Eating Healthily - Exercise and Play - Staying Safe and making good choices - Emotional Well Being/Anti bullying

• Aims: • To enhance our children’s knowledge and understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle. • To promote Healthy Lifestyles for our children... read more• To enhance our children’s knowledge and understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle. • To promote Healthy Lifestyles for our children and community. • To learn about activities and initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles in other countries, and inform our practice. • To use the project to enhance the learning of Modern Foreign Languages in our schools • To develop innovative ideas for using ICT as a medium to communicate throughout the project, e.g. eTwinning, video conferencing • To provide a real audience and a purpose for the teaching and learning in our schools – to give children’s work a real life context. • To enrich the learning experiences with a range of activities across the curriculum • To learn about the diversity of other cultures and countries • To develop a sense of being a European citizen. • To promote positive personal learning and development of our children and enhance their basic lifeskills • To promote staff development through sharing experiences and best practice. • For school leaders to share, and learn from, development and action planning within the leadership teams of partner schools In all our schools being/staying healthy is an important element of our school development and annual plans. Each class from each school to produce a ‘healthy recipe’, which will be shared to all schools. 2. All schools will then try cooking the recipes, taking photos, film etc. 3. We will produce a list of ‘food words’ in each of the languages. 4. We will collect traditional stories from each country involving food. E.g. The Gingerbread Man. 5. Outcomes – a website for recipes, words and stories. 6. Each school to produce their own book of ‘food’ – recipes, stories, words, from partner countries. PART 2 January – June 2010 – FITNESS and EXERCISE 1. Each school to produce written, clear, instructions of some Playground Games. – with photos, film, etc. 2. Schools to produce examples of our children taking part in or leading sports /aerobics / dance routines, for example pictures, videos, powerpoints, video conferences. 3. Devise and carry out joint measures of fitness. Year 2 Part 3 – Safety and Dangers September – December 2010 1. Schools to produce posters in their own and chosen MFL about safety and dangers, e.g. smoking, drugs, road safety. 2. Production of adverts and films about safety and choice Part 4 – Emotional Health - 2011 3. Work on dealing with bullying and coping with aggression 4.
