Fairytales speak the language of children, so it is the best way to stimulate students’ interest and involve them in the educational process. Through this project the students from Greece, the Czech Republic, France and Romania will collect traditional fairytales from their places, learn the basic elements of fairytales and, finally, write their own. These fairytales will be illustrated and decorated with the children’s own drawings and all this material will be included in a book under the title “Fairydusted Tales”. Moreover, students can use these fairytales to make their own videos, dramatise them, perfom puppet plays based on them or make them into e-books. All this material produced through this project will be uploaded on the school’s website, on a special place designed for the project.

Students and teachers will exchange mails or chat online and share things about themselves, their interests and their ideas on the project. Each country will also create a presentation with photos of the members of each group, some things about themselves, a short description of their school, their town/city and their country.
Afterwards, both countries will discuss the basic characteristics of fairytales and they will collect and translate into English some traditional fairytales from their countries or places. They will read each others’ tales and illustrate them or decorate them with their own drawings.
In the second part of the project the students of both countries will create their own fairytales in various ways: Both groups will work on fractured fairytales, on fairytales with unusual openings, they will create fairytales with new combinations of well known characters and craft their own fairytales which will have to include a number of predetermined key words or elements. They will also create tales together in which one country will start the story and the other country will get to develop it.
The last stage of the project involves the collection and decoration of the fairytales written by both groups and the creation of a book of fairytales entitled “Fairydusted Tales”. This book will be printed for both members of the project. In addition, one or more of these fairytales can be dramatized and video recorded, others can be used for a puppet show or a shadow theater performance. Finally, fairytales can be made into e-books by using special software. All this material will be uploaded on the school’s website, on a special place dedicated to our project.
During the project children and teachers will use chat, forum and emails to communicate with each other and exchange ideas and they will also use special video, image and sound software to process their material. Both groups will work on this project for at least 2 hours every week The manner in which each teacher chooses to work with their group of children is at their discretion. Possible setups would be splitting the class into groups of 3 or 4, or even having children work independently on their own fairytales. It is important for groups to find time to work together online.
