Following the successful annual conference in Seville from 5-7 February, results and presentations from the event are now available.

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of eTwinning, the annual conference in Seville was certainly a special one.  A record number of participants and countries participated as nearly 500 delegates from 32 countries attended. The majority of participants were eTwinning teachers but representatives from the European Commission, eTwinning Central Support Service (CSS) and all National Support Services were also present

On the first day, conference participants were welcomed by a number of representatives at European and national level, including Odile Quintin, Director General at the European Commission’s Directorate for Education and Culture; and Ángel Gabilondo Pujol, the Minister of Education in Spain. The keynote speaker was, Stephen Heppell, an expert in the field of education and media, who discussed the fast-changing reality of the twenty-first century and how we need to change the way with teach in the ever-changing learning environment around us.

The highlight of the first day was the prize-giving ceremony for the winners and runners up of the eTwinning Prizes 2010 competition. From over 350 European Quality Label projects, the top projects were outstanding in terms of quality and results.

On the second day, participants broke up in smaller groups in workshops that ranged from how to use certain kinds of tools and software to project development, creativity and trends. The participants also looked at online games, produced videos, learned how to podcast, explored opportunities offered to eTwinning by other aspects of the Comenius programme, examined intercultural challenges and reflected on the future of learning, to name some of the workshops available. This year’s conference offered a record number of over forty-five workshops in order to provide participants with a wealth of topics from which to choose. This intense day of learning and sharing finished with a gala dinner in the centre of Seville.

On the third day, the conference focused itself on a panel discussion between experts and the audience on the topic of the future of learning. This final session, led by the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS), was a great success as the participants were able to share and discuss in detail the challenges that they face each and every day in the classroom and education community.

In addition to the main sessions over the three days, participants were also able to see the videos produced by NSS, the CSS as well as the top winners of the eTwinning collaborative video competition.   Participants not able to physically attend could follow the conference as it was streamed online.

For all results of the conference – including photos, videos, Twitter feeds, links to the recorded sessions and commentary from participants – have a look at the conference website.
