GJC: eTwinners among the winners!

picture

We are pleased to announce that among only twelve winners worldwide, two eTwinning projects have won the Global Junior Challenge!

Held every two years, the Global Junior Challenge is a prestigious international competition promoted by the City of Rome and organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. The aim of the competition is to enhance digital culture at school. In this 5th edition, winners were selected from four age categories on 9 October.

In all four categories, eTwinning projects were featured in the finalist round. Congratulations to all that made it to the finals! As for the winners, we are pleased to congratulate two particular eTwinning projects that were the top winners in their age categories:

Schoolvision 2009!
Winner of the “up to 15 years old” category
Schoolvision 2009!, coordinated by Yester Primary School (UK), involved primary schools from thirty countries across Europe. Inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest, Schoolovision 2009! invited classes to sing, record and upload a national song on a blog. The best performances were then voted by all students, parallel to the actual Eurovision Song Contest on television.

The Pizza Business Across Europe
Winner of the “up to 18 years old” category
Looking at pizza as a bridge connecting tradition with modernity, students from Italy, Portugal, Romania and Hungary explored the history, evolution and meanings of this dish by organising thematic workshops and developing the idea of a “virtual pizzeria”.

Congratulations!
