eTwinning Catalonia: Innovation Certificates

picture

In Spain, the Autonomous Community of Catalonia has recently introduced innovation certificates for teachers who have received the national eTwinning Quality Label

In Catalonia it has been agreed to acknowledge the innovative nature of eTwinning projects that have been awarded with the national Quality Label. Therefore, all teachers who receive the Quality Label automatically receive an innovation certificate as well.

In Spain, Autonomous Communities are responsible for schools and teachers, and so the awarding of Quality Labels is decided by both the National Support Service for eTwinning and the Autonomous Community. All project applications go through two external evaluation processes, based on criteria which have been widely discussed both at European and Spanish level.

Therefore, at the beginning of each school year, Innovation Certificates will now be issued to teachers who have been awarded with the national Quality Label for projects run during the previous school year.

What if a project involves more than one teacher from the same school? In this case, teachers can register themselves as an “eTwinning Group” in their Resource Centre (Catalonia is divided in 9 educational regions which are sub-divided in 72 Resource Centres). This should be done at the beginning of the project (or even before) and one member should be appointed as the group’s coordinator. If the project is then later awarded with an eTwinning Quality Label, the coordinator will receive an innovation certificate and the rest of the team members will receive a training certificate.
