Celebrate eTwinning’s 5th on 05/05!
To celebrate the 5th birthday of eTwinning, be sure to do something exciting on 5 May in your school and community. |
eTwinning was launched in 2005 and already 5 years on, it’s an amazing community of over 90 000 registered teachers in schools across Europe! To celebrate this great success and special 5th anniversary year, the eTwinning team would like to invite you to join the party on the 5th day of the 5th month: 5 May! Stay tuned for a special eTwinning anniversary website in mid April dedicated to this momentous event. Schools will be able to tag themselves on a map to show that they are organising something for the big day. Afterwards, all will be documented and shared! How to celebrate? Here are some ideas on what you can organise in your school and community on 5 May:
- An eco-friendly balloon release: release blue and yellow balloons across Europe at 12.00 CET. Guidelines and tips on how to make this exciting activity environmentally friendly will be provided.
- An eTwinning birthday cake: prepare a big celebration cake – or even a number of cakes! – in your school. Be creative and show Europe your decorating skills!
- An eTwinning birthday song: Working with your pupils (and perhaps with your partners?) prepare and sing/play a special eTwinning birthday song. This is a perfect opportunity to showcase great musical talent!
Be sure to take pictures, videos, audio recordings and write articles about what you are preparing so that we can collect and share all the stories on the anniversary website on the day as well as afterwards. What else? Find out what activities are taking place in your country! While a pan-European celebration will take place on 5 May, many activities will also be taking place at national level throughout the year. The anniversary website will include what your National Support Service also has planned to celebrate eTwinning’s 5th birthday, such as events, seminars and award ceremonies.
Let’s make this birthday a special one – start getting ready!
