Age Group: 11 years +
Level : Easy
Duration: 1 month
ICT tools: Forum, Photo Gallery, Digital camera, Scanner
Pedagogical Objectives
- Develop media skills through creating visual images for
transmitting information and by gathering information through analysis of
visual images.
- Develop general communication skills, ICT skills and practice
communication skills in another language.
Process
1. Starting Activities
Pupils create a graphic self portrait containing clues about their hobbies, interests, likes and dislikes, pets, characteristics, family etc. They can make a drawing using Paint or other software, or create a photo album or make a PowerPoint presentation. The self-portraits are then published in TwinSpace.
2. Consolidation Activity
Pupils in the partner school write a description of their partners based on the clues in the portraits.
The description contains:
- An account of the partner’s appearance, character and personality
- A list of his/her hobbies
- A list of his/her pets
- A list of his/her favourite food, drinks, music, books etc.
- A description of his/her family
In the end, there can be 3-5 questions asking for more details. The final description is published in a forum in a new thread. The depicted pupil answers the questions, corrects mistakes and adds information if he/she feels like it. Discussion between pupils can continue freely from here with guidance from the teacher.
Outcomes
The graphic self-portrait and the final depiction (with all the new information added and errors corrected) are put together and they are published in a gallery of portraits (or in the pupils’ own blogs) in the TwinSpace.
