Online matching
| This ice-breaking activity follows the concept of online dating, focusing on common hobbies and interests. By the end of this activity, pupils will hopefully have found the eTwinning partner who corresponds the most to their personality. In this way, meeting each other at the beginning of an eTwinning project becomes a fun activity and goes on to create a better collaboration and more stable eTwinning team. |
Age group: 13 years and up Level: Easy Duration: 2 hours ICT Tools: TwinSpace Pedagogical Objectives On successful completion of this activity pupils will be able to: - express themselves in a forum,
- describe themselves in texts,
- understand the personalities of their partners through their descriptions,
- choose their partners.
Process Step1 Each pupil writes a detailed description of him/herself. In addition to that, he/she expresses what he/she is looking for an eTwinning partner (e.g., I am searching for a pupil who likes pop music). All personal descriptions are published on the TwinSpace. Step2 Each pupil carefully reads all the descriptions/advertisements and sends answers the pupils who seem to be the most similar/interesting to him/her. Step 3 Each pupil decides on the partner(s) with whom they would like to cooperate. Outcomes Pupils develop a close relationship and/or connection with one or two pupils from their partner school(s). The matched pupils can’t then rely on each other in a closer, more personal way for future activities and support. Tips Teachers can also organise pupil matching by groups instead of individuals. One idea could be to get pupils to discover their personality colours by performing a Lüscher colour test, which can act as a base for future activities between and within groups (many versions of this test are available for free on the internet).
