A school of the future
| Pupils from partner schools imagine a school in the future and draw a common painting.
|
Age Group: 5-12 years Level: Intermediate Duration: 1 week Pedagogical Objectives In this short activity, the pupils improve their ICT and creative skills and develop their imagination by sharing their ideas about different types of schools for the future. Process Teachers start with a brainstorming session together with the pupils on their ideas for a imaginary school. The pupils are organised into small groups to plan their activities and decide their roles. Using a drawing programme such as Kerpoof or Tux Paint, each pupil draws his/her part of the painting of their image of the ‘school for the future’. Alternatively, pupils can create their paintings on paper and then scan them. Upload the images of the future schools to a picture gallery in the TwinSpace or elsewhere. Invite the pupils to comment on each others’ images and ideas. Outcomes The pupils produce a painting or series of paintings that express their expectations and ideas for an imaginary, futuristic school. Tips Make sure that you have created a suitable environment where pupils can interact with each other easily. Schools can also use this activity as a final product of a project, e.g., if the topic of a project is “our life now and in the future”, pupils can express their personal thoughts via a common painting. This activity is very good for young pupils or for pupils with learning difficulties who cannot easily express themselves in writing. Links:
