A common concert
| Partner schools create a mind map for a common concert. Each pupil writes his/her favourite song in the right category using a video or audio link. In the end, pupils can then listen and enjoy the final result. |
Age Group: 5-18 years Level: Easy Duration: 1-3 days Pedagogical Objectives Pupils: - Improve their ICT skills while learning more about their partners.
- Become familiar with different types of music.
- Learn to be part of a team.
- Improve their media skills.
- Contribute to and evaluate the final outcome.
- Work in an interactive way and learn to make notes using only key words and images so they can map knowledge.
Process Each pupil (or groups of pupils) is asked to choose a favourite song they would like to put in a concert. To enhance collaboration even further, teachers can use a chat session with partner schools to pick out 20 or 30 songs and then use a voting system to choose the top 10. The pupils are then given the task to search for an audio or video link to the song. In Mindomo, create a common mind map and get each pupil to put their link into the map with a brief outline as to why they chose their song. When the mind map is finished, pupils can then enjoy a concert of their music. They can also personalise the map with their own symbols, photos and designs and even put the concert on YouTube. Outcomes A concert is the final product of the pupils’ collaborative work. Pupils share their reactions, thoughts, feelings and suggestions in a blog, evaluate the final results and procedures and most importantly, enjoy the concert together. Tips Encourage pupils to explore and benefit from ‘mind map’ functionalities. Schools can also use this activity as a part of another project, e.g., if working on a project about culture, the group could organise a concert using traditional songs, holiday music, etc. Links:
