What is eTwinning?

eTwinning is the Community for schools in Europe. Teachers from all participating countries can register and use the eTwinning online tools (the Portal and the Desktop) to find each other, meet virtually, exchange ideas and practice examples, team up in eTwinning Groups, learn together in Learning Events and engage in online-based projects.

How do I find partners for my eTwinning project?

  • Use the “Find eTwinners” in your Desktop to search for partners. You can combine different search criteria to narrow down the results.
  • You may also contact schools by using the “Partner-Finding Forum” to post and answer messages. Be sure to choose the right forum (eTwinning or Comenius Partnerships and the appropriate age range).
  • Before posting a new message, check if other interesting messages already exist and reply to them rather than creating a new thread.
  • Remember: one message is sufficient! More messages, as well as the same message posted in more than one forum, can be considered SPAM and may be subject to action by the Central Support Service.

Looking for a Comenius Partnership partner?

eTwinning offers partner-finding tools for teachers to find partners for Comenius Partnership projects as well as for eTwinning projects. Once registered as an eTwinner, teachers can:

  • flag that they are interested in finding a Comenius Partnership project in their “Quick Profile”;
  • search for other colleagues with the same availability by clicking on "I am available for a Comenius Partnership";
  • post/reply to messages in the “Partner-finding Forum”.

Combining eTwinning Projects with Comenius Partnerships

Teachers can combine their eTwinning and Comenius Partnership in several ways:

  • Many teachers begin their Comenius Partnership projects as eTwinning projects to get started and consolidate their ideas using the tools provided.
  • Some teachers take advantage of the possibilities offered by the eTwinning platform for their day-to-day work in their Comenius Partnerships. To access all the collaboration tools, they simply register their Comenius Partnership project also as an eTwinning project. Both are complementary and compatible!
  • Others continue to work with their partners within the eTwinning platform after their Comenius Partnership project has ended.
