ACROSS EUROPE
As the 2010-2011 school year kicks off, be sure to participate in the eTwinning Weeks activities organised by the Central Support Service.
During the entire month of October, eTwinners are invited to take part in a number of activities being organised at European level. With a special focus on "promoting eTwinning' for this year's eTwinning Weeks, find out how you can learn, share and collaborate with schools across Europe.
Below is a list of 5 central activities that all eTwinners are welcome to join this October. They range from face-to-face presentations to online interactive sessions and resource sharing.
ACTIVITY 1: Promote eTwinning in your community!
As the school year gets going, why not organise an information session or event for teachers, parents and/or local authorities? Spread the word about eTwinning!
1. Document your activities. If you are organising something, be sure to write about it on your brand-new eTwinning Journal on your Desktop Profile. Here you can tag your activity as “promo_etwinning” so that others can learn about it and find it on the eTwinning Weeks map.
2. Look for inspiration. Join the new Teachers Room on Promoting eTwinning in your Desktop. Through a forum and chatroom, you can discuss ideas and exchange resources.
3. Share your resources. If you have interesting promotional material (presentations, documents, videos, etc.) that you think could be useful to other eTwinners, add them to the Resource area of the Desktop with the tag “promo_etwinning”.
ACTIVITY 2: Photo collection
eTwinning wants your photos!
If you have high definition photos that show eTwinning collaboration and fun, share them with the eTwinning team!
Every year, eTwinning publishes a number of reports, books and articles in which photos of eTwinners at work can be used. If you are interested in contributing your photos to appear in a future publication, share them with us!
What to do? Add them to the Resources area of the Desktop with the tag “photo_etwinning”. Be sure to select the Creative Commons license “Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported". This way, eTwinning will also attribute any photos they may use with the same Creative Commons license.
ACTIVITY 3: eTwinning commercials
How would you promote eTwinning? What does eTwinning mean to you? Tell us in your eTwinning commercial!
Schools are invited to produce their very own 15-second commercials on eTwinning. This can be as simple or as complex as you like! Work with a small group, a large group, a trans-border group… and share what eTwinning means to you!
What to do? Upload your eTwinning commercial in the Resources area of the Desktop with the tag “promo_etwinning” and "commercial_etwinning". If you would like to allow others to use your work, or if you prefer to retain all copyrights, then be sure to select the correct Creative Commons license when uploading.
ACTIVITY 4: Get to know the new Desktop
Try out the new tools on the brand-new eTwinning Desktop!
As you may have seen, the new eTwinning Desktop has now been launched! With more information gathered together in one place, your eTwinning Desktop is now the one-stop shop for all eTwinning activities.
To learn more about the Desktop, have a look at the following web recording (in English) showing you what’s new and how to move around.
