Project ideas
'Christmas in various countries' - a project. Name of school: Nursery school no 34 Project coordinators: Zofia Dahms and Beata Jargot Title of the project : 'Christmas in various countries' The completion time : three months Language of the project: English Description: The project is designed for children at the age from three to six years old. Partners in this project will cooperate with each other in order to get to know customs and traditions connected with Christmas in various parts of Europe and in different religions. Children together with teachers will look for similarities and differences connected with Christmas celebrations in other countries. Children will learn tolerance and respect for people of different religions and cultures. Teachers will exchange scripts of lessons and teaching materials with others. In the period of carrying out the project they will develop their abilities of using TIK. The project will begin in November, 2008 and will finish in January, 2009. Effects : - presentations, children's photographs - songs - art works - e-mails - photographs - dishes The course of the project: Stage I (November 2008) · '' We get to know each other''- Children introduce themselves using photographs and drawings with teacher's help. · ''We share information with each other" - Children collect information about Christmas traditions and present them to children from partnership nursery schools. Stage II (December 2008) · ''Christmas delicacies" - Children exchange Christmas recipes and prepare a dish chosen from the partnership country. · '' Surprise for friends" – Giving presents is a part and a tradition of celebrating Christmas. Children will prepare Christmas presents and send it to partners. · '' Singing Christmas carols '' – Children will learn a Christmas carol in a different language. · '' Christmas decorations" – Children will offer friends prepared a chosen Christmas decoration, they will send stages of preparing it. · '' Christmas wishes'' – Children prepare Christmas cards in Paint format and send them to their friends. · '' How we prepare to Christmas'' – Children will send photographs presenting Christmas preparations. Stage III (January 2009) · "Our Christmas" – Children with teacher's help will prepare a PowerPoint presentation about Christmas traditions, Christmas preparations in the nursery school, and how they spent last Christmas.
