Project ideas
Mosaic is art consisting of a design made of small pieces of coloured stone or glass. Here in Chios island, there is an 11th century monastery Nea Moni (lit. "New Monastery") that has been recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, since it is beautifully decorated with mosaic (please have a look http://www.myriobiblos.gr/museum/icons/vaptisis%20nea%20moni.jpg) This is our inspiration for the current project. In a sense, Europe is a mosaic, isn’t it? It is composed by many small pieces: different countries, with different languages, different flags, religions, cultures, traditions and customs. This range is exactly the source of its beauty. Exploring those differences that compose the mosaic of Europe is our main purpose, therefore we are looking forward to receiving material from several countries around Europe! Let’s all deal with the parts of the mosaic and realise its unique beauty!
