Students and teachers involved in the project will broaden their knowledge on different countries of the European Union as well as gain insight into various academic and civic topics related to environmental issues.
Learning from each other will be affected by giving examples to the partner schools on how to investigate and realize different environmental topics and by cooperating personally in various workshops.
Furthermore an intensive and successful cooperation among schools will result in a deeper understanding of the characteristic features and values of other European countries. Common roots, shared values and the perception of differences will be part and parcel of the learning process and will enable students and teachers alike to cope with difficult situations on one hand and enjoy an enriched and personal contact on the other hand, which will hopefully be turned into a lasting one or even become friendship.
On a second level the students will acquire and practise personal and social soft skills, such as
• successful teamwork
• accepting and taking responsibility
• respecting the diversity of the countries of the European Union
• being tolerant towards others
• seeing themselves and their personal environment in a larger European context
• and finally being active as European citizens
At the end of our project we hope that our students will be capable to live and work in any country of the EU and take an active part in the further development of the EU.
Our schools as a whole will also profit because a new, European dimension will enter the classroom and regular lessons will be enriched by the knowledge and close personal contact of the students and teachers involved in the project.
All teachers will be able to profit from the shared work throughout the project and in that way even broaden their horizon. Cooperation between teachers is encouraged and might result in a lighter workload for the individual teacher.
We sincerely hope that, at the end of our project, life in our schools will be richer, fuller and characterised by mutual respect and tolerance when dealing with each other.
The final product of the project is planned to be exhibitions at schools and in twinspace. hide
