All earthly life depends on water for survival. Water is the only compound that exists on earth as a liquid, a solid and a gas. Water supports all forms of life - from plants to animals , from microbes to humans . Several problems threaten water resources today, which are related to the unsustainable use of water and the lack of adequate supply of water in many parts of the world. Such problems are caused by increasing population, consumerism, urbanization and changes in agricultural practice.
