The essence of the current project is the profiling of a nation through its cultural production. The pupils explore their culture in order to present the mentality of their people to their partners. They start with a description of themselves, preparing avatars to introduce themselves to their partners(Personal profiles). They go on with a powerpoint presentation of their country where they include information such landforms, sights, population, currency, etc. (Country profile). The core of the project involves 1. reading Polish/Greek literature, choosing a book and translating a characteristic extract from it in English for the partners to read, 2. describing a painting of a famous Polish/Greek artist providing some information on the artist and some input into his art 3. translating in English and singing in Polish/Greek a well known typical Polish/Greek song and 4. providing information on a Polish/Greek playwright and a piece of his/her work as well as translating and adapting a scene of the play in order to act it and prepare a video of the performance.

They will improve their reading skills in L1, their writing, speaking and translation skills in L2, their ICT skills (through the preparation of Powerpoints, video, word documents) as well as their communication skills (through chatting and forum. - Work process: The schools will cooperate throughout the whole school year from October till June simultaneously working on the 6 activities and... read moreThe schools will cooperate throughout the whole school year from October till June simultaneously working on the 6 activities and the final presentation of the project. Each activity will take roughly one to one and a half months (October 2011: Personal Profile, November 2011: Country Profile, December 2011 till mid January 2012: Literature, mid January 2012 till mid February 2012: Painting, mid February 2012 till mid March 2012: Music, mid March 2012 till April 2012: Drama, May 2012 –beginning of June: Project presentation. The pupils will communicate with each other (about exchanging & explaining their work) using means of modern technology. A number of teachers in each institution will be involved in the process (Language teacher, English Teacher, ICT teacher, Music teacher, PE teacher).
