Schoolovision 2011! will be the follow up to the hugely successful Schoolovision 2009! and Schoolovision 2010! projects. The aim is to involve one primary school from every eTwinning country, and each class will be invited to choose a song, practise it, video it and finally upload it to the project blog, created by the founder, by the specified date in early May 2010. Each country will then spend a week viewing all the videos, before all the children in all the classes join together for the voting, just like the real Eurovision Song Contest. This voting will be carried out by webcam conferencing, using the FlashMeeting software.

These songs will then be viewed by all the participating schools during the run up week to the real Eurovision Song Contest, in May 2011, and all schools will be asked to vote for their top songs, either by email, or preferably by live webcam conference on Friday 13th May, the day before the actual Eurovision Song Contest. By doing this, I hope that all countries will have the chance to learn a bit about Europe, its citizens, cultures and songs. (and have a whole lot of fun too!) Each country will need to plan a song to sing, practice it in school, decide how it will be performed and how they will provide musical accompaniment. Once all this has been done, they will need to follow the competition rules carefully, which will give full instructions on how and when to upload their finished and videod work. All work needs to be on the blog by Friday 6th May, so that each country can then spend the following week viewing and listening to the songs. Pupils in each class then need to vote for their top songs, and agree which countries they are going to vote for. These votes will be collated during our planned live FlashMeeting on Friday 13th May. UPDATE: Any schools who wish to, (and hopefully this will be the vast majority of partners) will be able to participate in a live Online voting session, just like the real Eurovision Song Contest, via webcam and the FlashMeeting platform, on Friday 13th May. This will allow all pupils in these countries to experience the European dimension through direct contact with each other and through discussion at that time and afterwards! hide
• Expected results: First and foremost, the project has been designed to allow each country to showcase a song they would like to... read moreFirst and foremost, the project has been designed to allow each country to showcase a song they would like to perform "for Europe". So, the results I would expect to see are that each class should be really delighted to see their finished pieces of work. However, in addition, of course, all participants will be very keen to see and to listen to the others' entries, so I expect to see a lot of interest in the finished pieces of work from all the schools taking part. There is a competitive edge to the project, as one country will eventually be crowned "Schoolovision 2011" champions! Above all, though, the results I want to see are children having fun engaging with each other and learning a bit about their peers, through listening to their songs and watching them sing. Like in SV2009! and SV2010!, the emphasis should be on fun learning. hide
