Schools will exchange a teddy bear or school mascot. You must have your own bear and scrapbooks which you are willing to send away for 1-2 months to another school. Your teddy will spend 1-2 months with the school you have exchanged bears with. The bear will have a scrapbook with it for you to fill with photographs and information about your pupils, school, local area and country. If lots of schools join the project then your bear will be able visit lots of different countries! Topics could include traditions and celebrations, food, local landmarks, hobbies etc.

Bears will be exchanged along with a scrapbook and letter to introduce the bear and the class or school it has been sent from. When you have recieved a bear, you may begin to fill in the scrapbook with information about yourselves and your school etc. The project space may be used to discuss what the classes are doing. Make arrangements for the bears to be exchanged, share photographs of the bears "on their holidays". Pupils may add work to the space for the other schools in the exchange to see. At the end of the exchange the bear and scrapbook will be sent back to it's school. We will then change partners and exchange with another school. If teachers are able to type up information for the scrap book then it can easily be reproduced for other schools. This will mean that photographs and information about celebrations or traditions at the time of the exchange may be included. This should prevent repetition of the same information about being produced by classes over and over. hide
