We are two secondary schools in adjacent provincial towns, both situated at the foot of major ski resorts in the French Alps. We are looking for a European partner to set up a collaborative project beginning as soon as possible (!!!), with students from our English European Section (2 classes, about 35 students altogether). Our project aims at promoting European citizenship through the exchange of information about the different regions we live in and how local geography can greatly influence certain aspects of our lifestyle (for example : the sports we enjoy, our culinary specialities …). We thereby hope to enhance student awareness of: a) the similarities that exist between young people of different origins, in spite of geographic and cultural diversity, and hence build mutual understanding and tolerance; b) our region as a tourist destination and the impact of the tourist industry on our lives, our work and our environment. Students will not only develop their language abilities - English being necessary for communication - but also their collaborative skills by working together on a partnership project. This project will include the use of ICT to deal with various tasks : email correspondence, the creation of Powerpoint presentations, on-line publication of written work or photos (blog or web magazine), videoconferencing etc. The final product of the project could be a brochure and / or a video clip to promote our region and incite our partners to visit us !
