Hello My name is Olivia Pop and I teach English at a Technical school from Romania. We would like to be a partner in a LdV or a Comenius bilateral project so if you’d like us to be your partner, please contact me. This year we have just started a comenius Multilateral project, so we can not apply for this type of partnership. I send you a presentation of my school. “Elisa Zamfirescu” Technical College is in Satu Mare that is a medium sized town in the North –Western part of Romania. Satu Mare is at the border with Hungary so the inhabitants speak fluently both languages. There are about 1000 students who are studying here and the school’s three main profiles are Textile - where the great part o the students are girls, Car mechanics – profile beloved mostly by boys and Body care (cosmetics, hair care etc) profile where you can meet boys and girls as well. There are also some SEN classes with students of different disabilities. The school has two locations; one where the students are studying the theoretical part of the subjects and another one where they have training. They learn Maths, Romanian, Hungarian, Science, IT, foreign languages (English, French or German), History, Geography etc. English is usually taught as a second language, while French as a third one. Depending on the profile, students are taught subjects that are typical to their profiles. At the end of the 12th grade all students have to pass a linguistic competence examination where they have listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Our school organizes events such as the School Day, Ecological Days, English Speaking Contest, and also British, American, French and German culture and tradition days where students are willing to participate. “Elisa Zamfirescu” has three informatics labs, a science lab, a multimedia room, a Romanian room and a foreign language room has just been started to be made. A modern gym offers students the possibility to practise sports. Students do the training in equipped workshops where they can familiarize with the practical part of car mechanics, textile or body care.
