The project aims at making children and the school community aware of how beautiful Europe is in its diversity in terms of landscape, culture and arts. It focuses on items such as capitals of European Union countries, various forms of arts, artists from the past and contemporary artists, folklore and self-artistic expression.
Students will gather and analyse information in order to create materials to regularly update a webpage, which will be a kind of electronic journal of arts.
Students will have the opportunity to meet new European friends and use ICT tools to expand their knowledge about other European countries, culture and people. Students will have the chance to seach for, write, compare and present information on their culture and that of their partners. They will also use in a real “scenario” the knowledge and language competence they will acquire and develop throughout the school year.

They will share these materials in the TwinSpace and they will publish most of them in the webpage, which will be regularly updated.
On a first stage, students will perform the following tasks:
– Introducing ourselves
Students will produce a powerpoint presentation identifying oneself, describing oneself (physical description and personality), expressing ones likes and dislikes (with emphasis on artistic preferences)…
– Introducing our school
Students will show one’s school, its buildings, outer and inner spaces and artistic manifestations in each school.
On a second stage, students will produce materials to start building the webpage. The webpage will contain the following sections:
– Beautiful European Capital Cities
Students will work on capital cities of the 27 EU countries. The produced materials will include pictures of the most significant/representative monuments and a short text about each city. The cities will be divided amongst students. The aim is to show the beautiful face of European cities.
– European Artists: Past v Nowadays
Students will search for information on European artists from the past and contemporary ones. They will write short and simple texts with precise information about their life and work. The produced materials will include pictures of the artist and of his/her most significant/representative works.
Artists will be divided in areas: painters, composers/musicians, architects, sculptors, writers, actors/actresses, singers, dancers…
– European stereotypes
Children will produce materials (drawings, paintings, posters…) showing some national associations (Holland/tulips, Germany/beer, France/champagne, Poland/bison…)
– European folklore is beautiful
Students will produce materials exhibiting some of their own country’s traditions such as costumes, dances, songs and local legends.
– We are artists too
Students will show their own artistic creations in several areas (painting, dancing, singing…)
– Europe helps us to develop our interests and passions
students will express their ideas on how Europe helps them to develop their interests.
Students will also have the opportunity to chat in the Twinspace.
The teachers in the project will maintain a weekly contact in order to organize tasks and evaluate the work done.
